KINGS OF MACEDON. Alexander III ‘the Great’, 336-323 BC. Tetradrachm (Silver, 34 mm, 15.14 g, 12 h), Mesembria, circa 150-125. Head of Herakles to right, wearing lion skin headdress. Rev. ΒΑΣΙΛΕΩ[Σ] - [A]ΛEΞANΔPOY Zeus seated left on low throne, holding long scepter in his left hand and eagle standing right with closed wings in his right; in inner left field, Corinthian helmet above ΔA; below throne, monogram. Karayotov 428-35 (O59/R189). Price 1054. Numerous minor marks and light scratches and the obverse struck somewhat off center, otherwise, very fine.
